The Foundations of Balance

Balance is more than a yoga pose and more than simply standing on one leg. It is an essential skill that supports the way we move through everyday life—from walking on uneven ground and climbing stairs to maintaining confidence, stability, and independence as we age.
Like strength and flexibility, balance is something that requires regular practice. When we stop challenging it, our sense of stability can gradually diminish over time. The good news? Balance can be improved at any stage of life through intentional movement, awareness, and practice.
In this 2-hour workshop, we will explore the foundations of balance through a combination of accessible exercises, mobility work, mindful movement, and yoga-inspired practices designed to strengthen both body and mind. We will look at the many factors that contribute to balance, including strength, coordination, proprioception (our awareness of where the body is in space), focus, breath, and mobility.
This workshop is suitable for all levels and is not about achieving advanced balancing poses. Instead, the focus is on building a strong foundation, improving confidence in movement, and developing practical tools that can be incorporated into both your yoga practice and daily life.
